We believe that all cats should be kept indoors for their health and safety. We strongly recommend that all cats adopted from us be strictly indoor cats to ensure their safety and prevent unnecessary vet bills (injuries from other animals, cars, fleas, parasites etc.).

Our adoption contract prohibits the declawing  of any cat adopted from our shelter. If you wish to have a declawed cat, please adopt a cat which came to us already declawed. We do not condone this mutilation which can result in change of behavior in the cat and also medical issues associated with declawing.

                                                                                       OUR POLICY

Our adoption fee covers neuter/spay, combo test for Leukemia and FIV, rabies shot, veterinary exam, distemper shots, deworming, testing, and surgeries that may have been needed.

We require a promise of sufficient shelter, food, and water for the life of your new cat. You agree to provide comfort and love to ensure that the cat will thrive and lead a happy life to the best of your ability.

You must be 21 years of age to adopt a cat or kitten from us.

In adopting you agree to accept full responsibility of medical care and costs of your new adopted cat(s).

The Community Cat Connection will provide, to the best of our knowledge, any background information we have available such as: where they came from, how they came to us, and what their medical history has been since coming to the shelter etc.

The Community Cat Connection will disclose all medical information we have available to us pertaining to the cat(s) you are adopting. To the best of our knowledge, our cats are healthy at the time of adoption.

There is a possibility of medical conditions which have not been detected by veterinary care through routine testing or physical exams to date. You adopt with the understanding the cat(s) you are taking home will receive appropriate medical care for their entire life.

In order to ensure our cats are a great fit with you in your home, we have a one month trial period. Your adoption comes with a thirty (30) day return, less a $50 fee for a retesting of a combo test once the cat(s) is returned to the Community Cat Connection.  The Community Cat Connection reserves the right to approve or deny a request to exchange the cat for a different one and will be determined on a case-to-case basis.

If you can no longer keep your cat(s) for any reason, regardless of how long ago you adopted from the Community Cat Connection, you promise to return him/her/them back to us. You can contact us online or by phone to make such an arrangement.

The Community Cat Connection reserves the right to deny any application for any reason other than mandated federal and state laws.

Kittens do best when they have a friend! We do not adopt kittens singly without another young and/or playful dog or cat at home. OR applicant is home for the majority of the day.

INTRODUCING YOUR NEW KITTY TO YOUR EXISTING FELINE FRIENDS

Below are some simple steps to introduce your new kitty to your existing feline friends.  Remember the key to this is patience.

  •  Your new cat should be confined from your current pet family for a time while they adjust to the new surroundings.  Providing a room for confinement with a litter box, food, water and a blanket or pet bed is the best way to start your new friend off.  Allow your other pets to smell the new cat under the door.
  • Over a period of time start moving the water and food dishes closer to the door.  Eventually your new cat will feel comfortable eating and drinking next to the door where he/she can smell the other cats
  • After your new kitty has been in your home for a period of time swap a blanket or pet bed from your existing cats with one from your new cat.  If you have more than one animal then do this for each one.  This gives all of the animals an opportunity to get used to the scent of the others.
  • Once you are confident that your new friend is using his/her litter box you can switch environments with your existing cats. Allow your new friend to have the run of the house and put your old friends into his/her room.  This should be repeated when you are at home and over a period of time to give your new friend an opportunity to explore your home and start to be familiar with the surroundings.
  • Allow your cats to see each other and sniff at each other through a slightly opened door. With luck they will sniff and groom each other.  If they do not you may have to break up some fights.  Move slowly. You may have to separate them and reintroduce them a few times before they are completely comfortable with each other
